CALLAWAY GARDENS 10KM                          November 4, 2006
Callaway, Georgia

Our man, Don, new to the septegenarian age division, won by a couple minutes over a ringer from S Carolina. While Don's 53 minute time doesn't appear fast, consider that the winning time on this monster hill course was 41:37, and that only one female broke 50 minutes.

NEW YORK CITY MARATHON                        November 5, 2006

In spite of assembling the deepest and fastest fields ever gathered for a marathon, and having perfect running conditions (mid-40s, no wind), the winning men's and women's times were relatively slow in that they didn't make top 10 NYC list.
American Olympic Marathon medalists, Deena Kastor and Meb Keflezighi, both whom many predicted could win this event, were not in contention after the first half and finished far off the winning pace.
Jelena Prokopchuka took the lead from the women's elite start and stayed the course to defend her title from last year!
Tony Black, primed for an attempt at sub 3 hours, fell victim to an infection in the final weeks, and ran an antibiotic hampered 3:18 after staying on pace to 25km.

SEAWORLD 10KM                                            November 19, 2006
Orlando, Florida

David travelled to this race and was first Master. He reports that the prizes were different .. such as the George Foreman Grill he got. Bill Rogers and Frank Shorter were leaving the race as he was getting into his car after the race. He chased them down and met with them on International Dr at a stoplight. Why? you ask ... to get their signatures on his new grill – of course!

TURKEY TROT 10KM                                        November 23, 2006
Clearwater HS      Largo, Florida

Coach Joe decided to run in the main event again this year as son Jim agreed to report on the race in progress from the lead truck.
Grandson Jake wasn't so sure he got proper briefing on the matter and searched for "Da da" in the truck the entire race.
So far, the only PR noted is for Christine who is training like never before getting ready for Palm Beaches Marathon next weekend.
Also of note, Karen and Claudia were 1 – 2 in the Masters division!
Again, since only the first 100 male and female runners are scored in this race, we need your input for complete results. Names for which we have no times yet are listed in alphabetical order.
If you ran this race and want your time to be listed, let us know. The 10KM had a total at 2,397 registered runners.
