Coach Joe traveled this weekend to compete in this prestigious Masters track meet. He was ranked #2 in this event in his age division. With six laps to go of the twelve and a half laps, Joe took command of the race and won his age division by ten seconds and was third overall in the heat of 60 to 69 year olds.
Shortly after this race the local police and fire departments arrived after three competitors were treated for heat trouble and shut down the meet. All afternoon events were delayed until that evening and continued well past bedtime. The main problem that the heat posed for Joe is his stick-on hip number that he wore to help identify him got sweated off. The announcer did not know him, so did not give him a call until a few laps after he took the lead.
