FORERUNNERS INTRAMURAL 5000M TRACK RACE
Thunder, lightning, winds and a torrential downpour limited our St Petersburg venue to two heats separated by almost 2 hours. Some in the first heat stopped briefly or dropped out because of the threat. Several were disappointed that they were unable to participate. Hal soloed in blazing temperature. Dianne took a look at the skies and headed to the gym for the treadmill.

THONOTOSASSA 5KM June 12, 2004
Mary Ann assumed that this race started at 8:00AM. So, was surprised when warming-up wearing new training shoes and her Forerunner 201 GPS, she was told the race would start in 2 seconds. Without any of the usual rituals still finished second only to the overall male, a high schooler from the area. The GPS measured the course as 3.07, a tenth short.

WATERSIDE 5KM
June 25, 2004 |
||||||||||||||
Mary Ann led Karen and Draceana to an impressive 1-3-5 finish. The course was difficult with steps, soft grass and a tunnel with fumes to negotiate. Same race organizers as the Picnic Island Adventure series got good attendance considering that race day was moved at least twice. No age group awards, but if there were, this is how the awards would be presented.
