JOHNNY MILES MARATHON                                   June 9, 2002
New Glascow,      Nova Scotia, Canada

Johnny Miles, the namesake of this marathon through the Nova Scotia woods, was a former winner of the Boston Marathon. Tough headwinds buffeted our guy Ken for the first 12 miles. The return trip on the loop course was on a hilly hiking trail in the forest. Ken, whose summer home is 25 miles south of New Glascow, led his family team to first place in the accompanying four person relay.

PIER 60 BEACH 5KM #1                                            June 14, 2002
Clearwater Beach, Florida

Survivors of this first WFYRC beach race of the summer say the wind was like Dante’s inferno on the trip back from the turn-a-round point on the out and back course on sloping beach sand.
Steve won overall, while Amy, Jeanne, and Kit went 3, 4, 5, in the women’s race. Our 85 yr old, Jack Parr, won the M75+ division.
