FORERUNNERS MAY 2006 RACE RESULTS

MAY DAY 5KM                                                                 May 6, 2006
Old Hyde Park Village       Tampa, Florida

A pretty large contingent of members and those who train with us for a hot weather race... Congrats to Beth, who has been working hard at track in recent weeks, as she won and broke 17 minutes! Training partner Maria who won last year was second to her friend and also won prize money. Kim was Masters woman and broke 19 minutes. Husand Jim finished seconds later pushing 16 month old daughter Sophia in the high tech baby jogger. Carol also finished on the top ten. Mike is still in PR mode and was our sole male in the top ten. But our guys are running well and both Ken and Mike also PR'd!
486 male, 440 female finishers. finishers.

Both male and female winners defended their title from last year and have for several years. Both double dip each year as first overall and first nude. Makes one wonder why two categories. The McCanns participated as usual ... Pam placed second overall female!

Steve's exact winning time last year won it this year also. Our men took center stage with 8 in the top twenty and six, count them, six first age group awards!
Kim and Kit were 1 - 2.
Paula and Michael are heading back to their Canada homes for a cooler summer. We have enjoyed them and will miss seeing them. Bet the guys in Michael's age group are going to miss him too! 172 male, 143 female finishers.

Strictly about Ma, this race concentrated their awards structure on combinations of Mother and child.
Mother/Daughter, Mother/Son, Mother/Baby Jogger. To no one's surprise, Kim with Sophie in the jogger was fastest of all the combos. She gets alot of practice as does Pappa Jim!

FORD 70.3 TRIATHLON                                             May 21, 2006
Buena Vista, Florida                     Swim 1.2, Bike 56, Run 13.1MI

This year this event took on the title of the total distances of the 1/2 because there is some trademark issue with the name (IM) that must not be used.
It was a misty morning for the lake swim and bike out into the hills of Clermont. The cool mist was long gone by the time the three laps around the run course consisting of a huge grassy field was underway. The event was reported to be well run ... even if a few of our athletes were less than happy with their run portion of it!
Lenore was third in the age group and took over twenty seven minutes off of her PR set in 04. Both Tim and Beth bettered their PRs by fourteen minutes!

BAYSHORE MARATHON                                           May 27, 2006
Traverse City, Michigan

Nathan Usher from Lansing, Michigan defended his title from last year. The woman's winner who was unable to compete last year won for the sixth time this year!
Bill got his Boston qualifier and a big PR on a near perfect day with 50-60 degree temperatures and a user friendly rolling course. It was described as flat to Bill's amazement by another runner who was not from Florida!
Anthony Fiaconni has run this marathon almost every year for quite some time.
There were 736 male and 488 female finishers.
