DISNEY MARATHON & HALF                            January 9, 2005
Epcot Center        Buena Vista, Florida

Ian bettered his overall place and time from last year. First time marathoner Jim got an automatic PR and entry into the one-in-a- million. It has been said that the person who completes a marathon is one in a million – congratulations Jim!
Kristine shattered her previous best in the half!

ST PETE BEACH CLASSIC 5KM & 10KM      January 16, 2005
County Beach Park       St Pete Bch, Florida

Corrections to the results are reported to be in process. Many timing errors were noted. Several people did not show up in the results at all due to not being aware they needed to wear a chip. So, it seems that almost all errors can be traced back to registration confusion . Notable mistakes recognized by the race director are the 10KM Female Masters and Male Grand Masters champions Lisa Valentine and Joe Burgasser being recorded as age groupers in the 5KM race due to getting registered by mistake in the shorter race.
Bernie Brown was scored as 31st* male of her age group, right behind John-Paul Newfield's dad, Mike. There were male names in with female results indicating a keying error upon classifying the runner on the chip itself. Jim McDannel PR'd in the 5K one week after his first marathon!
Steve Wilcox was 3rd overall in the 10K and our women were 3,4,5,6,7 &12 with 3 PRs among them. Three more PRs from fast improving Anna, Sheila and Leslee!
Scoring mistakes aside, this was a great 2nd event that was fun with lots of runners. If you were missed in the official race results and want us to report your time in ours, let us know.
_?_ male, _?_ female finishers in the 5KM.
_?_ male, _?_ female finishers in the 10KM.

DAILY NEWS HALF MARATHON                    January 23, 2005
Cambier Park       Naples, Florida

Both Christy and Denise won their age groups while Ste and Albert were second in theirs. Albert took four minutes and thirteen seconds off his previous best half. Mary Ann and Anna both took over two minutes from theirs in this excellent and prestigious event.
Mary Ann won 7th overall money although she was 10th woman. There were three masters women ahead of her and they were awarded the masters money for their top three places. A little confusing, but the short of it is, the race organizers do not double dip for Masters who finish in the top 10. Thirteen runners of each gender get money regardless of the age mix.

RUN FOR THE REC 2.6 MILE                             January 29, 2005
Belleair, Florida

Another lead vehicle cut off a loop of the course causing a very short race. A shame as this is a certified course when run in full. Coach told Tim that since he knew the way (it's practically in his back yard) he should have run the loop and then claimed the win!
245 finishers.
