Wind chill of 30 degrees. Emery reports that the last time he was outside in this kind of weather was in North China during the war. Mary Ann had an intestinal battle going on that slowed her down but still came in as 2nd women. Brian led our group over the finish for both his and Kim's first trip under 3 hours. Warm, humid & windy. The smallest contigent of Forerunners travelled to this excellent race since we discovered it many years ago. Our Coach set the course record for age 65-69 and missed the American record by a mere 8 seconds. If only there was a tailwind on the last stretch.........

The participation in this race was increased by the lure of the shorter distance by some. But distance was not a concern for others. Racing in three seperate events, Chris and Steve opted for the half marathon Jeep Liberty Challege as their Sunday run. Murph and Chip did the full marathon PT Cruiser Challenge. Somehow Murph's chip didn't register that she ran this race. She did, and even finished off the weekend with a marathon PR!

A windless, crisp cool morning was tailored for some fast times. Lisa won $400 as third local finisher and Mary Ann won $100 as 5th. Ken, Mark, Ian and Mary Ann shattered old personal records while others set their first at the distance. Coach Joe wearing #1, was inspired to own up to the honor by running a time that would have won the race ... if it was scored as an age graded event. This accomplishment was noted in the excellent press coverage of the weekend. 4,395 finishers.
