FORERUNNERS OCTOBER 2005 RACE RESULTS

ST GEORGE MARATHON                                      October 1, 2005
St George, Utah

Mary Ann went back to this event and earned a trip to Japan, apropos, because her new PR actually made her Overall winner with a World Class performance age graded 91.2%!
Age graded tables establish that a performance of over 90% is World Class and over 80% is National Class.
To give you some perspective, the male winner placed 2nd with 89.1% and the first woman to cross the finish line was 13th with an 85.2%.
Mary Ann's dedication and perseverance is no less than amazing.

24TH ANNUAL TWIN CITIES MARATHON      October 2, 2005
Minneapolis to St Paul, Minnesota

This event served as both the National Masters and also the Open Championships this year. High humidity and warm temperatures resulted in the second slowest overall times in race history.
Our coach, Joe, accomplished his goal of winning his age group. This marks the fouth consecutive age group win for him since becoming a Senior Master (age 50) on this beautiful and difficult course in each five year age bracket.
Joan Benoit Samuelson, age 48, earned her qualifier for the 2008 Olympic Trials with a 2:46:27. This marks her seventh qualifier, including the one for the first ever Women's Olympics in 1984 where she blew everyone away with her agressive breakaway. It is reported that her next goal is a sub 2:50 at age 50 at the Olympic Trials!

14TH ANNUAL CROOM TRAIL 50KM            October 15, 2005
Withlacoochee State Forest       Brooksville, Florida

Jon Wilson reported his experience on this challenging course - four loops of hilly paths, tree roots, and sugar sand deep in the forest. He fell twice on the first loop but pressed on over the rugged terrain to the finish line. A fifteen mile fun run was added this year and was well attended. John Holmes who was Forerunners member and also one of the founders of this event was memorialized. John was a good friend to all who knew him and was well known in the ultra running community. All will miss him and his fun sense of humor.
