ROOSEVELT RUN 5KM       Georgia             September 13, 2003

This hilly 5km is held along the haunts of the former president, who slipped away to this favorite hide-a-way whenever he needed to escape the stress of bringing the USA out of the great depression, and into WWII.

5TH ANNUAL RACE FOR THE CURE 5KM
Straub Park       St Petersburg, Florida         September 20, 2003

A great PR for Ian on this fine course along the beautiful St Petersburg downtown waterfront. Some say it's unmatched anywhere for a major city. Apparently they've never been to Cleveland. Jean Lindley finished tenth overall in the survivors division. Note that 13yr old Wes Reynolds came within three seconds of going under 20 minutes.

Note that the uphill part of this event allowed the use of the hands, and the downhill the use of the rear end. Our girl Melinda used both.

25TH ANNUAL WARHOOP SPRINT 3 MILE XC
Lake Seminole Park      Seminole, FL            September 27, 2003

A scant 35 finishers for this great event, originally planned for September 6, the Saturday that tropical storm Hermina was supposed to blast through Pinellas County. Most outdoor events were canceled, and then the storm somehow never made an appearance. Our best mudder, Steve Wilcox, won the race.

PEANUT FESTIVAL 5KM       Plains, GA     September 27, 2003

Don had strong competition from two other late sexagenarians in this event held in the hometown and still current residence of President James (Jimmy) Carter. You can pretty much guess who gives out the awards here, and was very impressed by Don's performance.
