109TH BOSTON AA MARATHON                         April 18, 2005
Hopkinton to Boston, Massachusetts

Our Masters women's team was called to the stage in the grand hall at the Copley Plaza to collect their award for the third time in a row. Mary Ann has been the constant on each team. Christy, back in marathon shape, led the team after being sidelined from the event since Chicago 2003. Denise ran the most evenly paced race of all our women 1:37:22/1:38:55. The three scoring members were followed by Karen and Amy requalifying on a difficult day due to the headwind and 18 percent humidity. Dry air feels good but is foreign to most of us Floridians. There were many salt caked, sunburned bodies crossing the finish line. Karen set the only PR of the day.
Michael ran the most evenly pace of all Forerunners at just 1:18 slow down in the second half.
Bess Anderson joined the other first time Boston ruuners Karen, Jocelyn, Leslee, Marjorie, Albert, and Bruce on the start line but opted to ride in from the Woodland T station at about the 17 mile mark with family members who had gone out to cheer her on. First time cheerleader Colleen Christensen used the MBTA system and determination to see Bruce at an unprecedented four places including Hopkinton and not counting the finish line!
Results are shown as chip time along with pace per mile, "R" indicates the time is a requalifier for next years Boston.
A second section shows clock time followed by the time it took the runner to get to the start line after the gun was fired.
There were 17,549 finishers.

MEEK & MIGHTY TRIATHLON                              April 23, 2005
North Shore Pool       Downtown St Petersburg, Florida

Forerunners youth corps shines on waterfront course. Splits are shown in the usual order of events, but the run is first and swim is last in this fun event.

ST ANTHONY'S TRIATHLON                                 April 24, 2005
Vinoy Park       St Petersburg, Florida

A beautiful event day with smooth water surface for the swim, dry roads for the bike and even a cloud cover along with the mild temperature for the most of run. Both winning times were over two minutes faster than last year and both Ken Malley and Dan McClenathan bettered last years time by over 5 minutes!
Tim and Jonathan did not improve on last years time but did repeat their Boston St A's double for a second year in a row!
Our Forerunners water stop was very busy and for the most part fun too. Thank you to all who came out to help.

FORERUNNERS RELAY PARTICIPANTS

Teaming up with swimmers and cyclists, Karen, James, Kevin, Ian, Mary Ann and Kit contributed greatly to their triathlon trios in various competing categories. Karen, Kevin and Mary Ann were just 6 days out from their Boston performances ... Kevin and Karen not too far off their PRs for 10Km!
70 yr old Buzz did the biking for his Male Masters team "Friends Tri-ing " in 1:57:23 but their runner did not finish and were disqualified as was Karen's team due to their swimmer.

BIG SUR MARATHON                                              April 24, 2005
Pfeiffer State Park to Carmel, California

No one told Anna that this beautiful but tough hilly course is not the place to try to qualify for Boston. Especially not on your first marathon ever! She was just three minutes over her qualifier of 3 hours and 50 minutes.
There were 1,806 male and 1,064 female finishers.
